Interest and/or practice of interdisciplinarity:
I have been working on interdisciplinarity for many years. I have done practical and theoretical research in the field as proven by several publications, specially a book “Interdisciplinaridade: Ambições e Limites” (Interdisciplinarity: Ambitions and Limits), several articles and a co-authored book “A Interdisciplinaridade: Reflexão e Experiência” (Interdisciplinarity: Reflection and Experience) where I put forward an epistemological understanding of interdisciplinarity as corresponding to the new disciplinary configuration which characterize the actual cartography of knowledge. I have also a large practice on interdisciplinary work. I have coordinated several interdisciplinary projects and I have been the head of an interdisciplinary research centre for more than ten years. In fact, the Centre for Philosophy of Science of the University of Lisbon (CFCUL) brings together a huge number of researchers in different scientific areas: physicists, chemists, physicians, biologists, engineers, philosophers, social scientists, anthropologists, etc. It has been the focus of my work during these years to make the effort of coordinating all these researchers in several interdisciplinary projects.
